It's All For You, Everything I Do

Up until 2010, I held SNL (Saturday Night Live) in bad regards. Granted, I watched MADtv (which aired on FOX in same time-slot) right up to its last episode, I still didn't like SNL. Once MADtv was canceled and before my discovery of British programmes on the PBS station, there wasn't much to watch Saturday nights. But after watching it a few times, I got reeled in, so now, I'm huge SNL fan.

About a month ago, I watched a re-run where Lana del Ray was the musical guest and while hearing this for the first time, I didn't understand the lyrics. I thought they lauded the relationship the character was in, but in fact was describing why it was so bad. Let's just say the boyfriend never reciprocated.

From her 2011 album Born to Die, here is Lana del Rey's "Video Games."

Can You Hear the Horses?

At the beginning of the year, my school year went into Part II, with a new class and off-period to boot. At this same time, I was producing an animated short for a competition in Dallas-- so a few days were allocated to that. That made me miss my first morning class-- so for two weeks, I stepped in there about three times.

And it got even worse when I would wake up late... thus missing the class. And it happened again Tuesday. 8.30, the alarm blaring. But it gave me time to shower and stuff. And as I rushed to my third class, this was on.

From her 2008 début album Lungs, here is "Dogs Days Are Over" by Florence + The Machine.
The dog days are over / the dog days are done / Can you hear the horses / 'cause here they come.

Just Look Up!

This is song is perfect. While looking on Amazon for music, I came across this one, and I don't regret it one bit. As teens, we believe we know everything there is to know and that we are right, no matter what may have happened. And we also love to give it away. You know.

We think that we are immortal-- and if something bad happens, that our lives are over as we know it. But as a Fort Worth, Texas-council member once said about being bullied as a gay teenager, "It gets better."

And you know what, it does. It really does.

So, as part of the ESF's One Year Anniversary Celebration, here is Mona with "Teenager."
